Every year we fill shoebox sized boxes with Christmas gifts for children and families in deprived areas of Central and Eastern Europe. The boxes are consolidated in Dyce and shipped to a national collection centre in northern England before being trucked to their destination.
Last year, to avoid any conflict with the pandemic restrictions at schools, we decided to offer shoeboxes via Facebook. This had a fantastic response – in fact reaching many individuals who wouldn’t have received then via schools. This year we have again distributed to the local primary schools, but we also made boxes available for anybody else via Facebook.
Last year during the height of the restrictions we had a fantastic response and collected almost 200 boxes for shipment to Romania, Ukraine, Albania and Moldova. This year we have distributed almost 400 boxes and while we may not get them all filled, we expect to beat last year’s performance and “Spread a Little Happiness” even further.
