THE KENILWORTH ADVENT CALENDAR GOES GREEN.

You don’t associate Advent Calendars with anything horticultural beyond Christmas trees, holly and mistletoe, but this year’s Kenilworth Advent Calendar offers much more.  We’ve had some great support from the industry in the form of financial sponsorship and prizes.

Smiths Garden Centre of Baginton is the latest company to sponsor this year’s Calendar with a donation of £300 towards our costs of production.  A generous supporter of many Rotary fundraisers in the past, not least providing the beautiful 14-foot Trees of Light in Talisman Square, they’re a great asset to our community.

But if you’re wondering what to do with all the plants you could buy from Smith’s, we have just the prize for you – a garden plan from Breathe Green Spaces worth up to £300.  Breathe Green Spaces’ Jenny Radford, a Royal Horticultural Society–qualified specialist, will transform your garden.  Whether it’s the size of an estate or an urban courtyard, a family garden or a newly built house, she’ll design to suit your own personal tastes and budget and execute the plan too, if that’s what you choose.

Or then again, if the outdoors isn’t for you, how about an Autopot 4-pot watering system, worth over £100, for your greenhouse.  The Horticulture Company www.thchydroponics.co.uk of Unit D, Princes Drive has donated this easily assembled system which includes a 47-litre reservoir that will last for days between refills.

Rotary is sincerely grateful to these and every other one of the 126 businesses who have donated to this fundraiser for local causes.

Just to remind everyone, the Kenilworth Advent Calendar doubles as a raffle.  Each Calendar carries a unique number, so it acts as a large raffle ticket and each day during Advent, we’ll select five Calendars at random to win the five prizes for that day, the first number selected wins the first prize on the list, the second number wins the second prize and so on.

Winning numbers will be listed daily on our soon-to-go-live, dedicated website:  www.kenilworthadventcalendar.co.uk , donated by www.loudlocal.co.uk along with instructions on how to collect the prizes.

Questions should be sent to kenilworthadventcalendar@kenilworthrotary.org.uk

And if you’re interested in having some fun by helping us raise money for good causes through this or other projects, do please email us at meetus@kenilworthrotary.org.uk  We’d love to hear from you.
