Supporting Community and Charities

Tarporley Rotary Club supports the local community and a wide range of Local, National and International charities

Throughout the pandemic Tarporley Rotary Club continued to work to raise funds to support local, national and international charities whilst also striving to undertake in a covid secure way local community action projects.

Whilst you might have missed the regular Tarporley Country Markets and Film Nights and the local carnival, together with the 41 Club we did manage to ensure Father Christmas was able to visit local villages and we have also raised funds through our recently launched 100 Club, a food auction and remote coffee mornings held via Zoom.

We were able to continue with our weekly meetings, also via Zoom. In fact Zoom has helped us to entertain visiting speakers from all over the UK and even from as far away as South Africa. We’ve also had visitors to our meetings from Germany, France and Australia.

Good causes that we have recently been able to make a donation to include:

  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital
  • The Alzheimer’s Society
  • Prostate Cancer Trust
  • Comic Relief
  • The Royal British Legion
  • Mid Cheshire Foodbank
  • Action For Children
  • The Samaritans
  • WHAG
  • Disaster Aid
  • MacMillan Cancer
  • Save the Family

You may also have noticed us out and about in the community as we have undertaken community projects such as the planting of purple crocuses around the village that gave us such a wonderful display this spring. We’ve also been out and about helping to keep our villages looking their best with regular litter picks and Tarporley Primary School Children will be able to tell everyone about the pear trees that we recently purchased and planted in their new garden.

The Old Fire Station Chocolate Shop has also been key to our support for the Mid Cheshire Foodbank, thanks to everyone who has donated food or cash to support our appeal over these tough pandemic months.
