Rotary St Helens Volunteer Marshalls at St Helens 10K Run:
A Community Tradition
Since its inception in 2011, the St Helens 10K Run, established by the Steve Prescott Foundation, has grown
into a major event on the local calendar. Each year, runners from all
backgrounds—seasoned athletes, enthusiastic amateurs, and first timers—come
together to take on the challenge, all while soaking up the incredible
atmosphere and community spirit.
A Race to Remember
The Totally
Wicked Stadium serves as both the starting and finishing point for this
much-anticipated race. Today was no exception, as hundreds of participants
laced up their running shoes and set off on the scenic yet demanding route
through the heart of St Helens. The streets were lined with cheering
spectators, local supporters, and volunteers, all adding to the electric energy
that makes this race so special.
The Spirit of St Helens
What sets the St Helens 10K apart is its inclusive nature—runners of all
abilities take part, from elite competitors aiming for personal bests to those
simply wanting to complete their first 10K. The sense of camaraderie was
evident as participants encouraged one another, embodying the ethos of the
Steve Prescott Foundation, which continues to inspire many in the sporting and
charity worlds.
Community Support and Charity Efforts
This event isn’t just about running; it’s about giving back. Many runners take part to
raise funds for various charities, with a particular focus on the causes
championed by the Steve Prescott
Foundation. The sight of runners donning charity vests and running in
memory of loved ones is always a powerful reminder of the deeper purpose behind
the race.
The Finish Line and Celebrations
Crossing the finish line at the Totally Wicked Stadium is a moment of
triumph for every runner, whether they finished in record time or simply
achieved a personal goal. Medals, high-fives, and celebratory selfies filled
the post-race scene as runners reflected on their achievements.
Looking Ahead
As another successful St Helens 10K comes to a close, attention already turns to next
year. With its strong community support and growing popularity, this race
continues to be a highlight in the St Helens sporting
calendar. Whether you're a seasoned runner or someone looking for a new
challenge, there’s no better event to experience the thrill of running while
making a difference.
