Our speaker on the 31st January 2012 was Nigel Morris. Nigel is a retired policeman who spent 20 years in the force, 12 of which were teaching advanced driving techniques to policemen and women. What makes a good driver? Nigel's view is that concentration, observation and concentration are the keys. He spoke about the sophistication of modern cars, and whilst facilities such as ABS, are excellent most of the time, under certain conditions they do not provide optimum performance. Drivers should be aware of shortcomings. All in all a most illuminating and interesting talk that reinforced the responsibility that all drivers carry with them. Tony Hoyproposed a vote of thanks to Nigel for a thought provoking talk.
