Rotary has always been a part of my life and to join Rotary was, for me, a natural progression. My Dad was a member of the local club in Rochdale and as a family we were involved in their projects and events.
I joined Rotaract when I was 21 after being away at university and found a superb social group that had lots of fun whilst helping others. Rotaract at that time was really for the young 20 year old people of our community and eventually it was time to move on. That’s when “grown up” Rotary came into my life. I enjoy the friendship and help that we give to each other in our personal and business lives and I get a real buzz when helping others in both the local community and overseas. Rotary has introduced me to many people all over the world who I would never have met without Rotary. |
I joined Rotary because I wanted to be involved in giving back to my local community, helping others by use my knowledge and expertise gained over many years working in the United Kingdom. I received guidance at 21 that changed my career and life for ever |

I joined Rotary because I wanted to extend my social life and meet more of the movers and shakers in my local community. I knew there would be a requirement to contribute towards the good works that Rotary is involved with. What I didn't appreciate was how rewarding and diverse these activities are and how they would change my life for the better. |

Why did I join
Rotary? Quite simply I was asked. What did I know
about Rotary at that time? Virtually
nothing. In hindsight did
I make the right decision? Absolutely,
it was one of the best decsions I ever made. What have I gained from joining Rotary? Opportunities to network locally, nationally and internationally AND the opportunity to support, as well as lead, local and international projects to help improve the lives of others. |

I have a very busy life at home and at work, I joined Rotary because I can sit down each week to a meal (cooked by someone else) and have people to chat to and relax with. I don't have much spare time, so I do what I can to help Rotary, mainly through the work I do, I am not able to help out much with fundraising and social activities. We have some interesting speakers and discussions, and I am always delighted when I can offer them some help and advice from all the experience I have gained through my work. |

I have been involved
with Rotary for as long as I can remember. A month or so before my
father died he had started to take me to Rotary weekly. When he died
suddenly within a week I was invited down to an information meeting and exactly
one month after his death I was made a member of the club. |
