Two of our members, Phil Day and Ossie Millar, help to organise the Annual District International Youth Camp at Petty Pool and this year, the group of 15 young people drawn from all over the world, spent a day as guests of our club. What a good day this proved to be.
Stewart Chadwick arranged a visit to Dunwood Park for the morning session where the very enthusiastic members of the Bowling Club gave our guests a warm welcome and the run of the green. A light lunch was then laid on at GMN Scout HQ in Middleton by Betty Millar and helpers after which Phil Day and Ian Royle led a walk round Hollingworth Lake culminating in a short rest and a viewing of the video at the Visitors' Centre.
After a quick visit to see the giant Rotary Wheel in Tandle Hill, the party went on to Rushey Fields Farm where Shirley Heather and her team provided an excellent evening meal.
The Campers from as far afield as Macau and Greenland as well as various parts of Europe went home later in the week with, we think, some favourable memories of Crompton & Royton
