This is one of the main areas for the Rotary Club and involves both practical help and fund raising.
Terence O'Grady Club. This is a Social Club for people, aged 16 and over, who have Learning Disabilities. The Rotary Club has been supporting the Terence O'Grady Club for many years by providing transport to weekly meetings, and this continues today.
Dr. Kershaw's Hospice, Royton. The Rotary Club has been an active supporter of the hospice for many years and a liaison group oversees the collaboration between the two organisations.
Senior Citizens outings. On occasions during the year members arrange visits to local garden centres for people from local residential homes. These provide a delightful day out for the residents but also the members themselves.
Stroke Awareness Days. These involve members inviting shoppers to have their blood pressure readings taken by volunteer nurses. If any problems are recorded then the people are advised to see their doctor.
Christmas Cash collection. In order to provide financial help to a range of organisations, the club organises a public collection at the beginning of December each year. This involves taking Santa's Grotto around the streets of Crompton & Royton in the evenings, and being present at the weekends at Asda in Shaw and Royton Shopping Precinct.
