During 2009 The Rotary Club of Crompton & Royton approached Oldham Council's 'Street Scene' department with the idea of planting bulbs in Shaw. An agreement was reached between Oldham Council and the Rotary Club on covering the costs. The bulbs were planted on Oldham Road, then the Big Lamp Island, on the corner of High Street, all along Crompton Way with the final batch at Wrens Nest.
The following spring members were delighted by the display of daffodils and each year since they have produced a great display to brighten up Shaw for a few weeks in the spring.
