Buxton Robotics Club Success

The robotics club have shared some great news following their recent Regional competition at Sheffield Hallam University.
"I’m delighted to share some great news following our recent Regional competition at Sheffield Hallam University.
Our junior team gained invaluable experience at their first major event, building confidence, teamwork skills, and learning how to perform in a high-energy competition environment. It was an important step in their development, and we’re excited to see their progress.
Our senior team delivered an exceptional performance, winning two trophies and demonstrating outstanding teamwork and technical ability. They reached the Robot Game finals and went on to win as part of the winning alliance.
This success means the senior team has secured a place at the National Finals, taking place at the Copper Box Arena in London on 21–22 April, and we’re very proud to see their hard work rewarded with this opportunity.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support—it plays a vital role in making opportunities like this possible for our young people".

Rotary, in collaboration with other local organisations, is helping people to improve their home energy usage. We have received a Rotary District Grant and are supported by the High Peak Borough Council Community Climate and Nature Action Fund.

We have recently contributed over £4000 to local groups, including St Anne's school, Buxton Mountain Rescue, the Robotics club, Childrens' Cancer, Rotary Young Leaders Award (RYLA) and the Wells Dressing Committee.

The Rotary global charity, the Rotary Foundation, supports a wide range of international projects aligned to the Rotary "pillars". Yes, it really did raise over $500 million - it's not a typo!

Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland raised over £94,000 to provide over 3,000 boxes of toys for children sheltering in refuges over Christmas. That's what I call helping our community!

100 boxes of Christmas biscuits were shared with local charities. Thanks to Morrisons for their generous discount and community support. For each box we bought, Morrisons donated one to support communities around the area.

Now that the vaccination programme has started we are planning activities (Covid-safe) for later this year. We are helping with traffic control at the Buxton Medical vaccination hub.

Primary school children need to be able to work online but many don't have a computer/tablet. With a District Contingency Fund Grant we have donated £1000 to Buxton Infants and Fairfield Infants for computers.
