RYLA 2025
Buxton Rotary strongly believes in helping to provide opportunities for young people.
To that end we have sponsored a total of five youngsters this year to attend Rotary Youth Leadership Award courses in Castleton and Duke’s Barn.
The Castleton course took place at the Rotary Centre in Castleton in February and was for students aged 15 – 17 y.o.a.
We didn’t manage to recruit any local youngsters for the Castleton course and our club members generously agreed to fund two places for students from elsewhere in the District.
The Duke’s Barn course took place over the weekend of May 16th -18th and was for students aged 13 -15 y.o.a.
We funded three local youngsters to attend the course, and Rotarian Andy Collier attended as one of the support team for the event.
Students were set a variety of challenges over the weekend, designed to develop confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.
Students from the Castleton and Duke’s Barn courses will be coming to speak at the club meeting on July 9th to tell us of their experience. We would like to thank the Hedley Foundation, https://www.hedleyfoundation.org.uk/ and the Bingham Trust, https://binghamtrust.org.uk/
for their awards of grants to help us fully fund places on these courses.
