This US$22,000 project was selected by RC Buxton to celebrate 100 years of Rotary International in 2005. The Malawi community was chosen because the Club sponsored the education of a local child there via Plan International. An Opera Gala in October 2004 'kick started' the project off with a donation of £4,000 and the balance was raised by a Sponsored Walk around the Goyt Valley in June 2005. In November 2006, the first maize flour was processed through the mill. The final finishing touch was the addition of a Trading Post in early 2007 to the Mill from a small surplus left from the donations from Buxton.
