About 300 people enjoyed the musical extravaganza provided by Burbage Band, the Mad Hatters Youth Choir and The Beresford Singers in Buxton's Pavilion Gardens Octagon. Compered by Rtn. Terry Corrigan - also President of Burbage Band - the artistes provided a wide-ranging repertoire, which demonstrated their superb talents and delighted the audience. See Buxton Advertiser Article.
On display on the stage were 'End Polio Now' banners provided by District 1050 and banners used in an Indian National Immunisation Day (NID). These were provided by Rtn. Mike Yates who had organised 2008 visits to India by D1050 Rotarians and by an Rotary GB&I group to help with NIDS.
In all, £1,563 was raised for vaccines for Rotary's End Polio Now Polio Eradication campaign, spurred on by challenge grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Foundation has given £355M to eradicate Polio, extending the Rotary Challenge to $200M by 2012. We contributed £1,563 towards this by this Music For Life Concert which was reported in Rotary International's End Polio Now March Newsletter
