It was party time on 7 December at ‘Presidents’ Evening’ in the Old Hall
Hotel with Christmas crackers, party hats, and carols. Buxton Rotarians and
their guests had an excellent meal enhanced by exceptional entertainment.
Besides music and song from Colin Rodgers, and Phillip Holland (plus a
recitation), a septet from the Heartbeat
Barbershop choir harmonised beautifully. Magician Chris Stevenson from
Northampton also mesmerised everyone by tricks at their tables before his main performance left all 83 present (members and their guests) laughing and wondering, 'How on earth
did he do that!?' During the evening, Club Secretary and past-President Doug
Jones was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship – the highest service recognition
given by UK Rotary Clubs – for his support of Rotary’s aims and the Club’s
activities. A particular pleasure was attendance at the Party by a number of members of the Buxton Hockey Club.
