Rotary Club of Buxton’s 9th December 2015 ‘President’s Evening’ at The Old Hall Hotel had a surprise in store for Rotarian Iain Parker, a former Chairman and Director of Otter Controls. He was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship for services to Rotary. Iain, the Club’s longest-serving member, joined in 1981 and led and supported many of the Club’s projects. He is an active member of the Club’s Youth Committee. UK Rotarians regard Paul Harris Fellowships, named after one of Rotary International’s founders, as prestigious recognition of those who make a difference locally or further afield. Local poet and musician, Phillip Holland, provided entertainment and £180 was raised for ‘End Polio Now’ (which becomes £540 because of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s ‘2+1’ promise).
more The Ceilidh raised £142 for the Helen Atkin Riding for the Disabled Charity and over £300 for other Rotary Charities. Many thanks to everyone who helped.
