Another fantastic Tech Tournament event was held at the Whitby Pavilion for schoolchildren aged 11–18.
This year, 13 teams of students competed to design, build, and test an electro-mechanical device capable of traversing a semi-circular track to clear debris. Advanced students faced the additional challenge of retrieving the debris.
The event was the culmination of hard work by Project Lead and Rotarian Steve Maltby, along with tremendous support from the Whitby and District Rotary Club, local teachers, and industry leaders, all of whom contributed to making the day a great success.
Special thanks to Heather King from the Woodsmith Foundation for providing pencils filled with wildflower seeds to help create wild gardens. Additional thanks go to Dave and Elise Smith for their outstanding efforts in building the test rigs and preparing materials sets for each team.
We also extend our gratitude to Rotarian Doug Lowther for generously funding the glass award trophies, which looked magnificent.
