You’ll be pleased to hear that there is no joining fee but, as you’d expect, there is an annual subscription of which about half goes to the national body which deals with things like insurance. The other half covers the running cost of the Club, which we always strive to keep to a minimum.
The format of our weekly meeting is a half an hour get together for a pre dinner drink, then a two course meal followed, for most meetings, a talk, given either by a guest speaker or, on occasions, a Club member.
The meal is pre booked, fixed price and always has a veggie option. To manage this, members pay a regular Standing Order into our Catering account from which payment is taken to pay for the meal. Any resulting balance in each member’s account is settled up at the end of each Rotary year.
Being a registered Charity, members are free to (but definitely not pressured to) make a contribution towards specific Club initiatives, if they so wish.
So whilst there is clearly a cost of being a member, the Club is always conscious to minimise it as much possible.
We also offer Corporate and Associated membership categories. The former allows businesses to send selected employees to attend meetings and join in with all our activities but are not involved in running the Club. The latter category (limited to 12 months followed by a personal review) is for individuals with the same provisos as for Corporate members

more In 1972 the Club purchased a house overlooking Peasholm Park 'Rotary House'. It is a place offered to Carers for holidays.
back The Club was founded in October 1921 and was granted a Charter in December of that year. Our Club has a great tradition and pedigree and we can justifiably be proud of what we have and continue to achieve locally and internationally.
