I became a member of the Rotary Club of Scarborough shortly after my wife Anne and I relocated to Scalby four years ago.
Joining the club has been a great way to make new friends and get involved in supporting the local community, as well as fundraising for worthwhile international charities.
We also have a lot of fun along the way!
For my year as President I have partnered with Future Works North Yorkshire, who are doing amazing work with young people in the area.
However, we also support other local charities by fundraising, such as the traditional ‘Santa’ collection, Christmas Toy Appeal, and bucket collections at the Open Air Theatre.
I would recommend Rotary Club to anyone - either long term residents or, like us, relatively new to the area - as a great way to serve the community.
