Young Hero Award

Recognising the positive actions of young people who exemplify the Rotary International motto of Service Above Self.

We are pleased to recognise the positive actions of young people, under 18 years of age, who exemplify the Rotary International motto of Service Above Self

Roll of Honour

August 2022.  AB for going out of his way, risking his own medal, to help others finish Ten Tors 2022.  Since then he has also received a Scouting Award for his actions - requiring special permission to receive it as an under 18 year old!

September 2022. Conor Warren for setting up and running Spark UK, community volunteering and always putting others first.  Connor is also the recipient of a Rotary Citizen of the Year Award, an award from his local Rotary Club in Ilfracombe, a Devon Award, a Pride in Ilfracombe Award and this year has been announced as a Coronation Community Champion!

Criteria:

  •       The Rotary e-Club SW Peninsula Young Hero Award is open to anyone aged under 18, known to a Rotary e-club SW Peninsula member, wherever in the world they live, who upholds or demonstrates the RI motto of Service Above Self.

• The activity being recognised could be a one off activity or ongoing efforts.

• The award is given as and when to those that meet the criteria.  There is no limit to or minimum number of awards that can be made in a year.   It is suggested that they are limited so that they stay special.

• Club members wishing to make a nomination can bring the reason for the nomination to the Club President in the first instance and then to a club meeting for approval.

• The young person concerned will be invited to attend a club zoom meeting to tell members about their Service Above Self activity and the certificate will be sent to a parent, guardian or a nominated guest in advance to be awarded in person while they are on screen.

• The recipients of a Young Hero Award may or may not be put forward for other RI or Rotary GB&I awards.  If they are put forward for other awards, those will be dealt with completely separately.

• The parent or guardian’s written permission will be obtained prior to an award being made.  All the usual legal and GDPR regulations with regards young people will apply, especially with regards publicity
