ART COMPETITION

Children’s art competition

2024 The Mirfield Rotary Children’s Environment

Art Competition

Due to the success of the 2022 and 2023 art competition The Rotary club of Mirfield is organising a different type of Children’s art competition this year in collaboration with a community interest company that some of our members  work closely with- ‘Give a few words’. Home - Give... (thegive.co.uk).

Give A Few Words aims to help share uplifting words on cards or letters that help reduce the feeling of isolation of people who may have no family to visit or who feel isolated in care homes or at home. Hand drawn colourful pictures on cards /letters bring a lot of happiness to those who receive them.  The card could be just a folded piece of paper.

Our theme once again is ‘The Environment’-pictures of local nature is welcome. The art will once again be judged by local artists according to the age group.

The written messages could be just one uplifting word or sentence or a short letter or poem and these will be judged by Sharron Wilkinson the founder of  ‘Give a few words’ who will arrange to distribute all the entries to isolated people who have been identified in the local area.

*Please note they will therefore not be returned to the school as on previous occasions.

Some examples of what to put are:-Love and cheer; Sending you a smile; Have a good day; Hello from…or anything else that brings a message of kindness and cheer. It is not necessary for the children to sign off with their name but it is nice to put their FIRST name only.

The back of the card/letter needs to note the child’s first name and age and the INITIALS only of which school it is submitted from, as may be required by school policy. (Please see terms of entry).
