Congratulations to our member Peter Thompson on his MBE

Congratulations to Knaresborough Rotarian Peter Thompson on the award of an MBE in the New Year's Honours List. A well deserved award for all his work in setting up and running PhysioNet over many years.

Peter set PhysioNet in 2005, in response to the needs of children in Sarajevo, driving a truck of wheelchairs and special needs equipment to an orphanage at the aftermath of that awful Balkan war. The operation has mushroomed and now gathers regular collections of wheelchairs and other equipment from a network of locations in this country with a band of volunteers. These items are sorted, repaired, packed, recorded and stored before dispatch to countries in need worldwide. For more information visit the PhysioNet pages. An amazing achievement Peter, we are proud of you!
