Central England Cultural

Youth Exchange Camp 2026

Last year we were approached to be part of Rotary International – District 1070 -Area 9 Youth Exchange Camp. As a result in August, we at Bradgate Rotary, will have the privilege of hosting an Ice Breaker Event for a group of 8 students from around Europe and beyond who will experience some of the historical, cultural and social aspects our area has to offer. Bradgate Park Trust have kindly agreed to help us make their first day a memorable one – so watch this space for details !

So, what’s it all about?

The Central England Cultural Youth Exchange Camp is a ten-day immersive experience designed for curious, openminded young adults who want to experience England beyond the surface and organised by our District but specifically some of the other local Rotary Clubs within our area

This is not a standard sightseeing trip. It is a shared cultural journey. They will blend history, nature, city life, conversation, and connection, alongside a small group of peers.

This camp brings together just 8 participants aged 18–25 joining us from across Europe and beyond, including Sweden, Taiwan, Croatia, Turkey, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, and Hungary. The group comprises six female and two male participants.  This intimate size is deliberate as it creates an environment where meaningful friendships form quickly, conversations go deep, and every experience is truly shared.

This camp is designed to:

  • Encourage true cultural exchange through lived experiences.
  • Explore England’s layers its history, landscapes, and modern identity as an active explorer.
  • Build their confidence, independence, and global awareness in a supportive setting.
  • Create lasting friendships that become their global network.

Over ten days, they will experience England through movement, stories, and shared discovery. This is learning by being there, history and culture experienced together. Their shared adventure will include:

  • Canal Journeys: Glide through beautiful countryside and historic towns by water.
  • Castles & Estates: Walk in the footsteps of kings and queens. Explore historic sites of power and conflict.
  • Ancient Cathedrals & Heritage: Stand in spaces that have shaped England for centuries, feeling the weight and wonder of history.
  • The Stories of England: Discover where key chapters of history unfolded, bringing context to the landscape around them.
  • Natural Landscapes: Breathe in the fresh air of scenic national parks and rolling hills.
  • The London Experience: A full day exploring the iconic energy and landmarks of London, from its historic heart to its modern buzz.

Rotary is not all about fundraising, there is so much more to Rotary.
