Reflecting on 'inspiring' club

Most Rotary clubs meet weekly, not only for fellowship but also to plan events to support communities nearby and overseas. Every so often, Bradgate Rotary Club is visited by the district governor who is the lead Rotarian in the East Midlands of England. In 2025-2026 that person is Moira Penney from Cambridgeshire.

Moira visited Bradgate for breakfast on Wednesday, March 25, and told the club’s 17 members present that they were members of “an inspiring club which had won a Club Excellence Award.”

Moira was delighted to be shown by club president Nicki Little a photo album given by Prostaid one of the charities supported by the Freeze Your Bits and Bobs Off walk in Bradgate Park on an icy Sunday morning January, when many walkers – Moira included – wore a bra and/or big pants to demonstrate the charities being supported.

Club treasurer Lesley Trivett told the meeting that she was waiting for confirmation that about £1,000 would be added by Gift Aid to the £14,000 that the walk had raised for prostate and cancer charities.
