Rotary thanks community group for support
Bradgate Rotary has presented a certificate thanking the Mayflower Club for the support they give to Rotary. It was presented to past president Alan Rockey.
The Mayflower Club, part of Markfield Community Association, meets at Markfield Congregational Community Church, on Wednesdays from 2pm to 4pm.
They meet for activities and friendship and give free hot drinks and refreshments.
Their Good Neighbour Scheme offers free home delivery of hot soup and bread roll in cases of severe weather, illness and/or disability.
Alan presented the certificate from Rotary to Ron Grantham and Carole Kemp. Ron tends to be in charge and is Chaiman of our Good Neighbourhood Scheme and Carole organises all their events.
Alan said: “They’ve supported us in numbers for all our social charity events since our first well-being event in 2021. For example they bought about 20 tickets for the Rotary Elvis in the Afternoon event and usually 12-14+ for our Rotary quizzes.
“Carole always collects more than the ticket price from them and then donate prizes for the raffle. Already have 14 for our quiz in November.”
