Over several years, Bradgate Rotary have supported in several ways the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust.
Joe died while jogging in October 2012 and his parents set up the trust and have raised enough money to provide defibrillators all over Leicestershire.
One of the crucial annual fundraising events the charity holds is Joe's Jog, a run through his home village of Rothley. This year more than 650 young people — a record — (and some older escorts, too) took part just before the LOROS 10k run.
Five Bradgate Rotary volunteers helped marshal Joe's Jog on June 2, 2026. It was not only an excellent fundraising event, but a celebration of Joe's life which put smiles of joy on hundreds of youn faces, as can be seen on this Facebook page.
Helping other charities and organisations is a big part of being a Bradgate Rotary volunteer; on Sunday, June 7, five members will be helping marshal the Coalville Community Fun Run and then on July 7 some will be marshalling at Wreake Valley Rotary Club's Watermead Challenge run.
