BRIAN COX URGES CYCLISTS TO JOIN THE 21ST DUNDEE CYCLATHON

Dundee’s own award-winning actor, film star and celebrity, Brian Cox, met up with members of the Rotary Club of Claverhouse, organisers of the Dundee Cyclathon, to congratulate them on reaching the 21st Anniversary of the city’s largest annual charity family cycling event, founded in 2004.

The 2025 Cyclathon will take place at 10.30am on Sunday, 14th September, starting and finishing at Camperdown Park, when cyclists will have fun pedalling around the Green Circular Cycle Path, a distance of 26 miles, to raise money for their own chosen charity.

The aim of the 21st Cyclathon is to break last year’s fundraising record
of £18,000, with a record number of entrants taking part to support local charities in desperate need of help.To achieve this goal, entry to the event will be free of charge upon registration. In addition to Cyclathon Primary and Secondary School Cups, a brand new Dundee Cyclathon Cup will be presented to the individual or group raising the most money for charity.

Claverhouse Rotarians and the Help for Kids Team are already focused on raising as much money as possible to support the more than 1 in 4 young school children living in poverty in the most deprived areas of the city.
The teams closely collaborate with school staff and welfare professionals to identify and tailor support to those children with the greatest need.

Brian Cox, an avid supporter of the Cyclathon, said ‘In Dundee, we have always been good at helping each other out when the chips are down. So, let us get on our bikes and join in the Dundee Cyclathon at Camperdown Park to put a smile on the faces of those who need our help and give them hope for the future. Come on Dundee, we can do it!’

Cyclathon Coordinator and Rotary Co-President, Ian Balgowan commented ‘Our 21st Anniversary is an extra special year when we want to break all records. Cyclists can enter by registering free on the Cyclathon website www.dundeecyclathon.com in advance or on the day so that we can track all monies raised. The Cyclathon is definitely a win-win, having fun together while helping others in real need.We appeal to everyone with a bike in Dundee to get on your bike and become a record breaker.’
