Youth Speaks 2021

After last year's virtual competition we were so pleased to be able to run a face to face competition - and what a great event it was!

Congratulations to all those young people who took part in the annual Rotary Youth Speaks competition on Friday – 14 very confident young people gave us their views on a wide range of subjects demonstrating a great understanding of current issues.

The results were as follows:

- Intermediate Category (11-14yrs)

o Winner: Naomi Oduntan of Chatham Grammar, who spoke on the subject of “The environmental emergency”

o       Runner Up: Summer Leigh Loveridge of Walderslade Girls’ School, who spoke on the subject of “The welfare of factory workers in Bangladesh

- Senior Category (14-17yrs)

o Joint Winner: Aiden Hook of Kings Rochester, who spoke on the subject of “Is there a correlation between race and knife crime?”

o Joint Winner: Kaitlyn Cook of Walderslade Girls’ School, who spoke on the subject of “The persecution of Christians”

The winners go on to the next round in the South East District in the New Year.
