Six members of Medway Sunlight Rotary had an energetic but enjoyable return to a project the Club completed in 2016.
Cam is a fantastic lad, now 21,who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is confined to a wheelchair. With a lot of hard work, and generous donations from a number of companies in 2015/16 we managed to landscape his steeply sloping garden to allow him to access all parts of it. In addition we installed a large pond, an artificial circular lawn and masses of planting.
This project was probably the biggest but most enjoyable one we have done since the Club started and aLthough Lisa, Cam's mum, had kept the garden under control as best as possible she has clearly had to concentrate on caring for Cam and the weeds were beginning to take control again.
So we set to on a typical summers day - torrential rain interspersed with bright sunshine ! - to clear the pond, weed, hack brambles, dig and generally tidy the garden. It was though very satisfying work which led to over 30 bags of weeds and a massive difference in the appearance of the garden and pond - see the photos attached.
A massive thank you to Jane, Tony M, Christine, Steve G, Habib and Bill for your efforts in helping make a difference for Cam!
back Please take a look at the attached photographic record of the transformation of the garden.
