20th July saw a team from Hadleigh Castle Rotary help at the Midsummer Sports and Fun Day 2024 organised by a number of local Lions Clubs for individuals living with physical and other disabilities. The event at King John School in Benfleet attracted entrants and teams from across South Essex and beyond. The day long festivities included a range of sports and both indoor and outdoor games followed by a free sandwich lunch and then musical entertainment before the prize giving and presentation of medals.
As well as helping to sell tickets for the very successful raffle we ran the popular bomber darts event. This involved competitors throwing magnetic darts at a board to record a score. Over 80 entrants accepted the darts challenge competing in a number of categories depending upon the level and nature of their disability. Top score of the day was an impressive 130 scored with just 3 darts!
