Ukraine Painting a Great Success

Thanks to a grant from Rotary Foundation Hadleigh Castle Rotary was able to offer free painting classes to guests from Ukraine living locally

Thanks to a generous grant from Rotary Foundation Hadleigh Castle Rotary were able to offer guests from Ukraine living locally a painting course. Under the guidance of club member and tutor Maryse Iles the team of novice artists attended six weekly sessions held at The Megacentre in Rayleigh.

For each of the first five weeks participants painted a picture which featured a different flower which has special significance to or is common in Ukraine. Each of the flowers was then transferred to a larger canvas with the colours of the Ukrainian flag as a background. At the end of the last session the attendees proudly showed their final finished canvases.

Julie Sawford Charity Director of The Megacentre said “feedback I have received from the attendees has been so good. I know that all enjoyed the opportunity to relax and be creative and produce some amazing results”
