Nepal Flood. Update on D1100 response 31 August 2026
Thank you to all the clubs that have been out collecting for the Nepal Clubs
People in D1100 have been very generous in their initial response to the flooding.
1 Club support: collections or donations
The initial needs are set out in this message to Peter Maxwell (Hereford City) from Rtn Om Rajbhandary in Nepal.
"Thank you so much for your concern and willingness to help. The flash floods have been devastating, and the country is still in deep shock.
At this stage, immediate priorities are rescue and emergency response, temporary shelter, clean drinking water, food, medical assistance, and support for families who have lost their homes and belongings...
However, it may be best for us to first assess the most urgent needs on the ground and coordinate with the local authorities and organizations involved in the response so that any assistance reaches the affected communities effectively.
I will keep you updated once we have a clearer picture of where support is most urgently needed. Thank you."
The death toll continues to rise, and future floods are very probable. Your collections are still vital to help people who have nothing left.
2 Looking to the future
Peter Maxwell and I have been asked to develop a longer-term response to the floods.
We aim to create an International Country Committee (ICC) between Nepal and D1100 (plus other Districts) and will be looking for interest from clubs to get involved.
We know many clubs in D1100 have links (current or past) with Nepal and local Nepali communities, which we would like to build on.

On Sunday 17th October Worcester Vigornia Rotary members volunteered to help at the Race for Life.

On Saturday 26th March a number of Vigornia Rotarians and friends carried out a litter pick on Hindlip Lane Worcester. It seems that quite a bit of litter gets dumped here out of cars, possibly leaving the Rugby Club. We managed to fill 6 large bin bags.

August is our Birthday month and to celebrate our 18th Birthday we had cake and it was also the solar eclipse night too
