As discussed on our home page, we have still been working hard to support worthy causes during the covid19 lockdown period.
At our first ever club council meeting held online we agreed the following donations;
£500 to the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal
£500 to Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre
£100 to Super George's Army - Fundraising for Queen's Medical Centre
£220 to Guts UK - In Memory of Normal Bull
£350 to Hope for Belper Food Bank
We have been supporting our local Food Bank for a while. During the lockdown our members have been donating money into a support fund. This money is being donated in lieu of the money we may spend on food and drinks at our regular meetings.
We donated £350 from this fund to the Food Bank in recognition of their increased demand due to covid19. We have pledged another £750 which will be match funded by Rotary District 1220. That will take our total donation to £1,850 during this period.
By nominating the Food Bank as part of the Rotary 4 Food Banks scheme they may also benefit from further donations of both food items and money.
We will continue to raise funds and make donations as best as we can during this difficult time.
