Following the Rotary philosophy of 'Service before Self' the Community Project Group has built upon past achievements. The Rotary Club of Harrogate has recorded a number of major achievements during its hundred years plus existence including:
- founding the Harrogate Society for the Blind (now known as Vision Support Harrogate District),
- creating a holiday camp for disadvantaged people,
- creating an orphans refuge,
- forming the Harrogate Boys Club,
- creating the Harrogate Flower Fund and
- providing transport for elderly people to a variety of regular and ad hoc events within the Harrogate Council for Voluntary Service,
- marshalling one-off events including the Olympic Torch relay and the Tour de France peloton in Harrogate,
- delivering meals on wheels to elderly people.
