Rotary volunteers spend 47 million hours doing good in the world

The Scope and Scale of Rotary Volunteering

A study by the Johns Hopkins Centre, Baltimore, USA
found that Rotary give an estimated annual contribution of 47 million volunteer hours,
in 2019, equivalent almost to 27,000 full-time paid workers,
and saving US$850 million in service costs, each year

50% of volunteer hours are contributed by Rotary members age 56 years and over
and women accounted for 26% of volunteer hours

Latin America volunteers give the most at 6.4 hours/volunteer/month,
Middle East 6.2 hours, Europe 4.7 hours and USA and Canada 3.7 hours

Half of all volunteer hours are devoted to health, education and social assistance
and 20% to Culture, Community and Economic Development, and the Environment
