PRESS RELEASE – THE EYEBROOK WALK/ROTARY CLUB OF UPPINGHAM
ROTARY CLUB SUPPORTS LOROS
The Eyebrook Walk, a 5-mile charity walk organised by the Rotary Club of Uppingham, held on 17 August raised £4,100 for our local hospice organisation LOROS. 200 walkers from across the area participated in the walk in beautiful weather. The walk has been held annually, apart from during the Covid pandemic, since 2010 and this is the most successful event yet both in terms of participation and funds raised.
LOROS has recently experienced severe financial challenges and has been forced to close a 10-bed wing of the hospice and reduce outreach services in the community to balance the books.
The funds collected have now been transferred to LOROS.
The Rotary club thanks all participants and supporters, in particular: Tata Steel (UK) and company staff for their permission to use the Eyebrook estate and their support on the ground, Uppingham Co-op for the provision of water and bananas as refreshments and Alex of Boundary Box for catering support.
This is only one of two major projects which the Rotary Club will undertake for LOROS this year as later in the year the Rotary Clubs of Rutland and Uppingham will be co-operating to reconstruct the sensory garden at the centre of the hospice at a planned cost of £5,000'What We Do' Main Pages:
