General Meeting AT HERON HERNE BAY

Kathy sadly informed the club that Sue P had resigned from the club as has Elaine
after a long membership. Thanks and good wishes to both.
Kathy is looking forward to not having to wake up ready to chair a meeting in future!
Grace was given by Andrew M, followed by a substantial Heron breakfast.
Sarah’s party
- A number of members enjoyed Sarah’s hospitality last Saturday at the East Quay
Venue, she even planned the weather. Oysters, bubbles, canapés, a saxophonist
and more.
Board meeting (minutes attached to this email)
- David M’s meeting control was missed! David will circulate an account update
tomorrow and asks that members ensure their account is in the black on 1/7.
- International
- MercyShips a proposal to set aside £250 until December when match funding
should be available - this was agreed.
- TWAM all donations this year were acquired from rotarians and their contacts,
nothing was donated on the day we had the van. A new model will be identified
for collections and potential venues will be sought. Ronan has offered some
space in his garage later in the year. Robert will speak to Rev Tilotson to see if
we can use the church car park.
- Shelterbox - there has been a further earthquake in the Philippines Andrew B
proposed we make a donation of £590 to replenish stock. This was seconded
by Lesley and passed unanimously by the club.
- Open your hearts to Bhutan - Emma Slade will be attending our meeting on
9/7. Any funding she requests for projects needs to be assessed against

district grants funding as this is another low funding year, the money used was
raised in a Covid year when fundraising was a challenge due to lockdowns.
- Walk for Water presentations will be held on 2/7, hopefully at least two schools
will join us along with staff from the University. The committee has sorted the
books and prizes.
- Spyros will continue to collect used medical and disability aids having collected
nearly £6,000 worth this year.
- Help for Ukraine, the committee is going to seek clarity from District on the
fund they are managing.
Handover
- The agenda is full, the weather looks good and everyone is asked to ensure
Robert has your menu choices.
Car parking -4/7 is fully covered.
Presidents Garden Party 20/8 2ish
- More details to follow.
Presidents challenge 2026/7
- Pete has set a challenge to raise funds for his charity - 65@65. He is seeking
sponsorship and a weekly weigh in will be noted each week.
- Today - 270lb or 19st 4lb.
Robert’s cycling challenges for Cancer Research
- 300 miles in June and July
- He will be seeking sponsorship too.
Brogdale Cream Tea 23/7 12.30
- Make sure your name and any guests are on the list.
Charity Golf Day 11/9
- Need sponsorship and teams.
Spyros has grape vines, parsley and sage for sale this week.
Raffle won by Dave C a bottle of white wine.
Master at Arms

- Dave C fined us for dressing in a summer fashion and tempting fate, demonic
performance at Bat and Trap, shorts and crocs. Mentioning the Croatia England
match.
- He then regaled us with a poem about Jean Claude VanDam.
Final toast was given by Ronan.
