General Meeting

Breakfast meeting
Pete chaired today’s meeting in Kathy’s absence.

Grace given by Paul, followed by another delicious breakfast.
Presidential Challenge
Pete has set himself a challenge for the coming year, as he celebrates his 65th
birthday this year and wants to loose a bit of weight he is going to undertake a
sponsored slim, 65@65. Aiming to loose 65lbs.
Pete’s Update
• Sadly Pete’s granddaughter whilst away on a family holiday has broken her ankle.
She did manage to get in the pool with various plastic bags!
- We have a change of venue for our breakfast meeting on 18/06 as the England
game the night before is a late kick off and the Monument will be open into the
early hours. Therefore this meeting will be held at the Heron.
- It was planned to be the W4W presentations on 18/06. As it would likely be a
challenge for the schools to get to Herne Bay the presentation meeting has been
rescheduled for 2/07 at the Monument.
Treasurer
- Finances are in good stead. David’s off on holiday soon…
- If you need anything paid whilst he is away 9-17/07 please let him know
beforehand.

International
- Andrew held a committee meeting on Wednesday evening where a number of
proposals were made. He will be taking these to Board on 16/06.
Membership
- Ronan will be transferring his Rotary membership to Chestfield from his current
club in South Africa. Great news.
Fundraising
- Car parking 4/07, numbers are good but there may be requests for people to
change their selected shift.
Social
- Pat is going to book afternoon tea and an orchard tour at Brogdale, with the
opportunity to walk or tour in a trailer pulled by a tractor. Cost £14.50, with a
small cost for the tractor tour. There was a lot of interest.
- The wine tasting and vineyard tours are being held at Brenley Farm so Pat will
look to book in September again for those who missed outlast time.
- Lamberhurst Farm and Ales and Blooms, Sue V will update us when she has
contacted them.
- Andrew informed us that this Sunday is Open Farm Sunday with various things

- Presidents tea party, Pete will make a date once we have the other events
confirmed.
Greetings from other clubs
- Martin brought greetings from the Rotary Club of Herne Bay. He is their newest
member and told us about their plans for Baytastic in the park on 2/08 to
encourage new members.
AOB
- Sue V was caught up with the Arsenal supporters in Hero Square in Budapest!
- Spyros has broad beans for sale today.
- Sarah reminds everyone of her party on 13/06, East Quay Venue 6.30 - time to relive
your Woodstock or Glastonbury years

Raffle won by Fiona, a bottled Brenley Wine she donated! Put back for another
time.
Master at Arms
- Pete welcomed Dave back and thanked Godfrey, and his trusty Bertie, as well as
our poet laureate Andrew for filling the gap in Dave absence.
- Fines were given for extremely long poems, childish humour, self perception,
fashion choices and requests for a cuppa!
- Dave then regaled us with a poem based on a Paul Simon song: Fifty ways to
start a Ukulele meeting
