Pete’s update
- Pete attended a Herne Bay Rotary meeting recently, a new member in his 50s
was inducted! He had a pleasant meal at the Heron and a chat with Stuart Neame
who forecast the potential demise of the Herne Bay club due to age, he was
encouraging his new members to visit other clubs to get ideas for modernisation.
- Pete is attending the local presidents meeting next week.
Grace given by Paul, followed by breakfast.
Treasurer
- The finances are fine.
- Pat will furnish David M with the final list for bowling and the follow on meal -
David M kindly offered to pay the bill! (Only if he wins the lottery!)

- Walk for Water 20/3, hopefully the route will dry out a bit before the event. David
M and Andrew B are visiting schools. Ensure you have your name down for the
post walk meal at the Hare at Blean.
- TWAM 18/4 - at Chestfield car park.
- Car parking 14/3 - most shifts covered.
- Quiz night 11/4 - further to David M’s email the quiz will be held at All Saints hall.
Let David know how many tickets you would like. Pete regaled us about a recent
1
quiz he attended with some challenging and somewhat ambiguous questions,
along with pronunciation. And Pete’s team won!
Greetings from other Clubs
- Pete brought greetings from Herne Bay.
- Spyros brought greetings from Saffron Waldron club, he received a delivery of
used equipment. He has about £5000 worth of equipment, which includes 2
mobility scooters. He is awaiting collection as his garage is rather full.
- Paul brought greetings from Southend rotary via his garage door fitter who
phoned him twice during the meeting!
AOB
- Pete sent an email to all with regard to evening meetings, please send any
thoughts direct to Pete please.
- Red Letter day - last years red letter day was won by Reggie, following his death
the club unanimously agreed to give it to David M to acknowledge all he does for
the club.
Master at Arms
- Fines were handed out for golfing nostalgia, singing on the way to work,
Quasimodo impressions, and turning his back on Jazz.
- I couldn’t find Dave’s version but Google found this:
There was a young lady from Frome
Who’s ear was stuck to her phone
It stayed there all day
She had so much to say
That silly young lady from Frome.
Raffle was won by Jean, a bottle of Italian bubbles.
Final toast given by Godfrey.
Next meeting 5/3 7.30 for 8am at the Monument pub.
