Breakfast meeting
Apologies
- Gerry, Sue P, Sue V, Maggie and Jean.
- Pat hopes to see Sue P this week, Pippa has been in touch with Sue and
understands she has had some health problems. We all wish her well and hope to
see her soon.
Reggie’s funeral
- A number of members attended Reggie’s funeral on line, it was a very quiet affair.
May he rest in peace.
Grace was provided by Paul and an ample breakfast was partaken of by most
members.
International
- W4W 20/03, David has sent everyone an email that needs a reply only if any
details have changed or you require a position nearer the start of the walk. Car
details are most important so any changes let David know asap.
- Shelterbox - Andrew B proposed we make a further donation for a Shelterbox,
Seconded by Fiona and agreed unanimously by those present.
- District Ukraine fund for generators and medicines was discussed with a view
that we look to make a donation to it at Rotary year end as District are drip
feeding the money they have currently.
- TWAM - a date is in the events folder along with some volunteers. We are just
awaiting on confirmation of the time of arrival of the van.
- African Oyster trust district grant application is yet to be confirmed but hoped the
money, if successful, would be available by the end of March.
Fundraising
- Spring quiz - David has still not had confirmation from the Seasalter Christian
Centre of our booking despite a number of emails. If he hasn’t heard by tomorrow
the quiz may well remain at All Saints Hall.

Social
- Bowling 13/3, £10 deposit is needed for the meal so please ensure details are
correct on the sheet in the events folder by next week. David M will payout of
meal balances so ensure there are sufficient funds available.
Treasurer
- To date our Master at Arms has raised £327.14, and the Raffle £491. Please note
Anne does need raffle prizes to keep raising funds.
Membership
- Pete has agreed to continue with membership into his Presidential year.
- Mel is still trying to get to a meeting however her life is still very busy.
AOB
- Request was made to reinstate the circulation of board minutes, Fiona will send
this week’s out.
- Dave C heard an excellent speaker at his Retirement group. Talking about Morse,
as in Inspector, and Endeavour series. Suggested for one of our evening
meetings. Dave will provide his contact details.
Master at Arms
- Dave C attended in his Coastwatch uniform as he is attending a parade to
commemorate the Channel Dash. This was an event in WW2 where a Swordfish
torpedo squadron was scrambled, accompanied by Spitfires, to attack a German
navy flotilla in the channel. Sadly nearly all the Swordfish planes were shot down
But German ships were damaged.
- Fines were demanded for being outsmarted by a mouse, looking like a liquorice
allsort, being potless and nurses uniforms. Cross fines were awarded for obscene
ditties and noisy tables!
- Dave then regaled us with a ditty about a couple from Ruislip
Final toast given by Fiona.
Next week’s meeting is at the Heron public house in Herne Bay, 7.30 for
8 am breakfast. Our ADG will be attending and we will have a presentation from
Demelza House Children’s hospice.
