Thursday, 9 October 2025 Breakfast meeting Apologies- Pete, David K, Lesley, Gerry.- The club sent best wishes to David K who is having various investigations.- Welcome back to Reggie. Grace from Paul. Quiz- Sold out � �. Could possibly make up a 13th table.- Godfrey made a plea for raffle prizes . Shoebox appeal- Kathy asks that filled boxes be brought in over the next 2 meetings if possible.- Otherwise the latest date is 13th November. Kathy regaled us with the saga of Kevin’s electronics travelling (still) with DHL  Membership- Sue Prosser’s induction will occur next week. All in hand. Christmas trees in All Saints Church- We have all info needed for this.- David M will produce the label with the Rotary Club of Chestfield and Tankerton Yarn Bombers for display with the tree.- Further decorated labels will be available for memory messages at £10 each. The money raised will go to the church collection for Pilgrim’s Hospice. Foundation Sue V has organised a number of things for the End Polio campaign: 1 - The crocus brooches will be available with donations in the Monument.- Robert will put a post on our Facebook page explaining the campaign with BACS details.- Purple lights will be used on the Playhouse weekend of 24/11. - Sue V is going to ask Kim Foster if he will have leaflets and a collection box in Copperfields as it is opposite the church. International- Andrew B told us the shocking news that Russia is targeting farms and food distribution centres in Ukraine presumably in an attempt to starve the population. Raffle a bottle of Prosecco won by Andrew B. Master at Arms- Half a car, casual dress, Joyce Grenfell, PE teachers, the Plough and phones.- Dave C following the fashion of reduced Shakespeare gave us a Hamlet limerick.- I couldn’t find the version Dave gave us but here’s another: A Prince of Denmark once rued The death of his father so crude Death to Polonius And King Claudius So everyone ended up screwed. Final toast given by Kathy. Next meeting 16/10 7.30 for 8am at the Monument
