Thursday, 2 October 2025 Breakfast meeting Apologies- David M, Pete, Reggie, Sue V. Guests- Maxine Blades ADG, Robert Stephens, Ronan Lennon Birthdays- Lesley, 21 again, yesterday. Grace given by Paul. Looking back and going forward- Afternoon tea, thanks to Lesley for organising. Great music, sing-a-long enjoyed.- Wine tasting, thanks to Pat for organising. Good afternoon, perfect weather, great wine and delicious cheese.- Toy collection - 25/10 plenty of volunteers.- Shoe boxes - Kathy has ordered leaflets and will confirm date.- Walking over the O2 - 3 interested, need to book through Just giving.- Shelterbox - 14/10 exhibiting at Chatham Dockyard.- SGM notice has been circulated to members, to be held on 23/10.- Quiz night 15/11 Kathy’s rambling!- Christmas collections over 2 weeks by Canterbury clubs,we can join in if we want to. Funds allocated by club involvement. Kathy will circulate email. Treasurer - away! Youth- Due to a lack of venue and late notification of the date it hasn’t been possible to organise the Young Chef competition this year. 1 Humanitarian- Kids in Mind toy boxes for children in Refuges, clubs asked to donate £30 per box, value of contents £80. Excellent quality. Proposed we give £150 , seconded and agreed by the club.- All Saints Christmas tree display. £60 a tree, displayed in the church over 3 days. Tankerton Yarn Bombers will help to make some of the decorations in RotaryBlue and Gold. Memory cards can be placed by members. Proposed, seconded and majority agreed. International - Andrew had sought funding for another Shelterbox and for Emma’s Open your heart to Bhutan fundraiser, unfortunately the Board was informed by David that charity funds are not currently available.- TWAM date in April not confirmed until the new year due to cam availability. Greetings from other clubs- Maxine brought greetings from Canterbury- Paul brought greetings from Bournemouth. Raffle - a tin of biscuits won by Pippa. Master at Arms- Fines for a variety of things from facial expressions to suede coat, and breast examinations to male members!- A poem by WH Auden. Give me a doctor partridge-plump, Short in the leg and broad in the ****, An endomorph with gentle hands Who'll never make absurd demands That I abandon all my vices Nor pull a long face in a crisis, But with a twinkle in his eye Will tell me that I have to die.
