Thursday, 11 September 2025 Breakfast Meeting Apologies - Jean, Kathy, Pete, Reggie, Robert. Guests - Sue Prosser Birthdays - Robert Grace given by Paul. Car Parking- David will be counting the takings today. Andrew regaled us with a story about his language faux pas with his polish daughter in law. He was reminded of this when two polish ladies parked on Sunday, he told them the story! Blowing kisses came into it somewhere Golf Day - All organised, a thank you for all the raffle prizes - always welcome more. - Request made to front of house team to ensure the golfers are moved through to the Putting competition once they have their bacon butties. Gardening 20/9 9am- Andrew has organised bulbs. More helping hands would be useful. Foundation- Polio day 24/10 - there have been some issues with lighting at All Saints so another venue has been sought. The Playhouse in Whitstable high street has agreed to be lit. Leaflets will be made available to explain the lighting. Christmas Meal 11/12- The menu is attached to the email for the meal. Choices to be emailed to Sue V susanvargyas@hotmail.com .- The costs per person have been rounded up to include a gratuity, therefore 2 courses will be £30 and 3 courses will be £35.- The meal is at Seasalter and Whitstable golf club, 6.30 for 7pm. Shelterbox 1 - After Andrew explain the Shelterbox purpose the club discussed the donation being proposed to replenish after donations to the Afghanistan. Some members had concerns with regard to the treatment of women and girls in the regime but generally the club felt we should donate to replenish. Andrew B proposed, Andrew M seconded and the donation was agreed by a majority vote. AOB- Open your hearts to Bhutan - Emma is undertaking a gruelling 12 peak walk in Bhutan to raise funds for the charity. Board will discuss whether a club donation is proposed, however Emma has a Just Giving page so members can donate independently.- Pat has some Kent Walks books she wishes to rehome, new homes were found.- Pat gave a talk on Corn Dollies to Seasalter WI, she was given a speakers fee of £50, she has donated this to our charity account. Raffle won by Pippa, a bottle of sparkling refreshment. Master @ Arms- Fines for being a stranger, amusing attire, swallowing dictionaries …- The Pig It was an evening in November, As I very well remember, I was strolling down the street in drunken pride, But my knees were all a-flutter, And I landed in the gutter And a pig came up and lay down by my side. Yes, I lay there in the gutter Thinking thoughts I could not utter, When a colleen passing by did softly say 'You can tell a man who boozes By the company he chooses'— And the pig got up and slowly walked away Final Toast from Sheila Next meeting 18/9 at the Monument, 7.30 for 8am, Deborah Hallet from Revival Cafe will be talking about the ethos and work of this cafe in Whitstable
