Thursday, 28 August 2025 Breakfast meeting and Sheila’s Induction Apologies- Andrew B, Gerry, Jean, Lesley, Maggie, Pete, Reggie, Sue. Going back and coming forwards- Chestfield Funday made £55 despite some confusion with Whitstable Rotary’s game!- Car Parking on Tuesday - a good day making £568 on parking and £52 on plums! A special thank you to Diane Coupland for her help, without her this session could have been a struggle.- Car parking 7/9 - shifts have been amended to run from 10am, please check the folder for your amended time.- Golf Day 12/9 - 11 teams, sponsorship complete. Still need raffle prizes. Induction of Sheila Thompson- Objects of Rotary read by Anne.- Pat, Sheila’s sponsor, recommended Sheila to the club as a great future member.- Kathy undertook the formalities and welcomed Sheila to the club and wider Rotary community.- Sheila, a retired intensive care nurse, joined us to make friends and be an active member of the community.- Sheila was welcomed by all. AOB Shelterbox- We received a request for a Shelterbox to assist the provision in Pakistan. In absentia Andrew made the proposal, which was seconded and agreed by those present to donate a further £450 to that raised at Dave’s Rave to fund a Shelterbox 1 Visit to Ramsgate tunnels- Dave C proposed a trip to the tunnels as a social event. Received positively by the club. Raffle David K won a footcare kit, swiftly exchanged for a bottle of German white wine! Master at Arms- Fines included giving Maureen the sack, Sheila choosing to join us despite getting to know us, and Fiona for suggesting she was in a care home!- Dave recalled us with a little ditty - L’enfant glace by Harry Graham When Baby's cries grew hard to bear I popped him in the Frigidaire. I never would have done so if I'd known that he'd be frozen stiff. My wife said: 'George, I'm so unhappé! Our darling's now completely frappé! Final Toast given by Kathy. Next meeting - 4/9/25 7.30 for 8am, at the Monument.- Kathy will hair part of the meeting, followed by Pat. The following week Andrew will be in the chair. Kathy will be in the Scillies! British Heart Foundation. Fiona is fundraising for the BHF by undertaking a strong woman challenge in October.
