Thursday, 17 July 2025 Board meeting Apologies - Elaine, Gerry, Pete, Reggie. Birthdays - today is Kathy’s birthday. Grace given by Paul.- Charities for Kathy’s year: • Alfie’s Army Fund - local fundraising to support Young Lives Vs Cancer - Kathy is meeting with Alfie’s dad. • Hope for Tomorrow -Fiona is waiting for dates when Bryan can attend a breakfast meeting to give us an overview of charity. • Revival - Kathy is going to speak to Deborah Haylett to invite her to talk about the work of the cafe.- Riverside Pantry - Riverside Church and cafe are working closely with School Family Liaison Officers in coordination with Canterbury Food Bank on a project to f ill the the gap by providing food for school children during the summer holidays. Each food bag supports two children with five lunches, and includes items such as cereal, bread, fruit, jam, snack bars, and more. This summer, the project will be working with 14 schools, distributing 85 food bags per week— supporting around 170 children weekly. The project will cost around £4,500 in total. Proposed donation of £500 made by Fiona, seconded and agreed by Club.- Golf day - team-wise potentially okay but sponsors are still needed, 13 of 23 holes are sponsored. £55 per hole if you have any contacts. Good raffle prizes needed.- Gardening at WTH on Saturday rain or dry!- Dave’s Rave - Kathy has a food list, David will take £10 pp from meal accounts. Beach hut No 154, bring your plate of food, alcoholic or soft drinks and chairs.- Harbour Day, Pat is progressing with organisation. Need more sign up from members to cover shifts. Probably Splat the Rat as water is at a premium and the public may not appreciate wasting it pelting sponges at the stocks! - Chestfield Funday - 25/8 Splat the Rat will be used to fundraise. Need at least 3 people for each shift. Sheet in Events folder. 1 - Christmas collection - 7/12.- Christmas meal - Sue will arrange at Whitstable and Seasalter Golf Club and confirm date and cost.- Treasurer - For anyone with subs outstanding please pay asap. - Current status of charity account - £2200, Club account minus £694 but will be in the black by year end.- International- Request received from Lady Juliet for support with a global grant for a project in Africa. Andrew has responded on behalf of the club to say it was not something we felt we could get involved in.- Ukraine - DG request to support humanitarian supplies, £250 donation proposed by Andrew, seconded and agreed by club. - Global Sightings - DG request to support a Surrey club raise funds for an international cataract charity £250 donation proposed, seconded and agreed by the club.- Foundation - proposal to request lighting All Saints church with purple on Polio day in October, Sue will ask for club leaflets to be made available in church.- Humanitarian Services - Lesley will contact the Waterloo Community Centre in regard to seeing their historical pictures of Whitstable and the date of the cream tea with Up the Creek Ukulele players, Dave C’s band.- Toy and school uniform collection 25/10, page in events folder.- Social - Dave’s Rave and proposed Waterloo Centre afternoon tea.- Membership - potentially Mel and maybe Trevor. Pat is bringing a guest next week.- AOB - Spanish galleons will be in Ramsgate harbour on Friday 25/7 as part of Harbour week.- Master @ Arms - Names, leaks, has-beans and tardiness.- Sergeant Browns parrot - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUwOkfd1uLM- Next meeting 24/7 7.30 for 8 am at the Monument PH, Ron will be giving his final instalment of the allied bombings
