General Meeting

Thursday 5 December 2024 Breakfast meeting Present - Andrew B, Andrew M, David’s M, Elaine, Fiona, Godfrey, Ian, Kathy, Lesley, Maureen, Maggie, Nick, Pat, Paul, Reggie, Robert, Spiros, Sue. Guests • Louisa Constantine, Careres Support East Kent Apologies • David K, Dave C, Gerry, Hilary, Jean, Marian, Pete, Pippa, Trevor. There are a number of members who are under the weather and we wish them well. Ann Bowley is planting a maple tree at Herne Bay crematorium in memory of David, his ashes will be scattered there. David K’s wife Jill died on Monday after a brief time in the nursing home. Our best wishes have been sent by a number of members. Grace given by Paul. Fundraising • Tesco collections 9/12 rota now fully covered. • Chestfield collections 8/12, first group meet at 3.45 on Primrose Way. Sec team meet at Robert’s at 5.30. Food collections can be delivered to the Canterbury Food Bank on Monday. David M will be taking clothing, etc donations to Porchlight (?). Wrap up for all weathers � � � Social • Christmas meal 12/12, 7 for 7.30. Pat’s bringing a quiz for each table. International • Mercy Ships, match funding now available. The club agreed £250 donation. 1 • TWAM Stocks forecourt is no longer available for the collection as it restricts customer parking in a limited area. Fortunately Mel has offered the Plough ca park on 26/4/25 10-1. Comm/Voc • Pilgrims Hospices Christmas tree collections will be at Macknade on 11/1/25 cover needed in 2 hour sessions. Contact Rachael (see last weeks meeting notes) if you can help. Carers Support East Kent Louisa thanked the club for the laptop donation and provided an over sight into the support they offer to schools and the young carers in those schools. David M ma have a contact who could provide more laptops to assist the work Carers Support do. AOB Andrew B’s mulled wine was enjoyed by many at last Sunday’s car parking -fortunately no one claimed extra points for using him as target practice! Suggested we provide a notice informing people of the charities benefiting from our car parking. David M will produce somethin suitable. Greeting from other clubs Robert brought greetings from Canterbury Sunrise. Raffle won by Robe Master at Arms • Nick fined members for a number of misdemeanours including chocolates common first names and pushing into the breakfast queue • Today is both international Ninja � day and Soil � day! Final toast given by Lesley. There is no breakfast meeting next Thursday, the next meeting will be the last before Christmas 19/12 7.30 for 8am, festive outfits welcom �
