Thursday 31 October 2024 Rotary Club of Chestfield Meeting notes - Present Dave C, David M, Elaine, Fiona, Ian, Maureen, Maggie, Nick, Pat, Paul, Pete, Pippa, Robert, Robert, Spiros, Sue. • Guests Richard Miller, Vanessa Oaks, Jake, Lily, Cassie and their parents from Tankerton FC • Apologies Andrew B, Andrew M, Chris, David K, Gerry, Godfrey, Hilary, Jean, Kathy, Lesley, Mariam, Reggie, Trevor. No birthdays this week. • Grace Given by Paul. • Fundraising There are some issues with our next car parking session in December, confirmation of the date will come in the near future. • Social Please inform Nick of any raffle prizes you have for the Quiz Night. Nick will put a list of the prizes on every table to encourage ticket sales. Ales and Antiques natter and a platter is on 27/11 6.30, £10 pp. Sign up page in the Events folder. No reports from other committees. • AOB Remembrance Sunday , Sue, Ian and Maggie will represent the Club and lay the wreath. James Flanagan will be visiting the Club in January and has asked if Rotarians wish to submit specific questions beforehand he will endeavour to have answers. 1 • Tankerton FC The various Club representatives gave a good overview of the history and ethos of the Club. The Club offers opportunities to all children, it offers fun and inclusivity regardless of ability and socio-economic circumstances the Club. It does have some adult sessions, including walking football if anyone is interested. The challenges of developing the new club site and the ongoing issues and funding needs were discussed. Eight youngsters sit on a youth council to influence the Club’s direction. This encourages personal development as shown by Jake and Lily who spoke to us about their experience in the Club. The Club has over 200 members and is continuing to grow. David M proposed that we provide support, possibly utilising Rotary grants. • Greeting from other clubs Chris sent greetings from Corfu where he is sailing. • Raffle Won by Nick - alcohol free! • Master at Arms All suitably fined and asked to appreciate bats of all descriptions. • Final toast Given by Sue. • Next meeting Board meeting 12 November Breakfast meeting 14 November There is no meeting next week.
