Minutes for Rotary Breakfast meeting 22nd August 2024 Present - Sue, Elaine, Robert, Paul, Godfrey, Gerry, Reggie, Andrew, Chris, Pippa, Spyros, Pete, Maggie, Kathy, Ian, Pat Apologies - Andrew and Jean, David K, David M, Dave C, Fiona, Hilary, Lesley, Maureen, Marian, Nick, Birthdays - Hilary 24th August Evening Meeting - Mel apologised for the change back to a breakfast meeting, as there was a double booking for the room. Bat and Trap - more apologies for cancelling the bat and trap evening on Tuesday, apparently no one had a bat and ball, the teams that play at The Plough have their own. Mel now has a set and a future date will be made. Plough Fest - Monday 26th August - we will be having a table at The Plough to advertise to local people what Rotary is about and to encourage new members. Splat the Rat will make his usual appearance, and we will charge £1 a go, with £5 for anyone that is lucky enough to trap him.. Those that are setting up will be there from 10am for a 12 O,clock start, so please come along and take part throughout the day, it will be very busy. Parking will be in the local streets. International - nothing at the moment requiring our attention, just a mention that Monkey Pox is spreading and vaccinations are imminent. Youth - Maggie, Sue and Kathy will meet with other local Rotaries to discuss joint events. Xmas meal - Thursday 12th December Gardening - bodies required to help on Saturday 31st August, from 9am AOB - Pat has made enquiries at several halls for another Taste of Crafts charity session, and the best option is Swalecliffe Free Church, Herne Bay Rd, at a cost of £70 and to be on November 23rd, 1pm-4pm, and to discuss at a later date ways of paying for the hall. Xmas Collection - Pat has spoken to Sam at Tesco, and requested a date for us to have a day shaking our Rotary buckets, 9th December was decided, and we will discuss the possibility of having the sleigh and music there as well. Kathy brings Greetings from Bala, Wales where her and Kevin were on holiday. Raffle - won by Spyros Master at Arms - Godfreys turn this week with Bertie Bassett, followed by one of his little stories.. Final Toast - given by Andrew B
