BREAKFAST
Business:
Fund Raising: Pat congratulated everyone who took part in car parking last Saturday. With the stall as well, we raised just under £700, which was an amazing result. Members mentioned that Canterbury CC will raise car parking costs to £3.50 an hour for prime sites from April.
International: Pat checked the events sheet for Walk4Water. We could do with one more volunteer as back up, in case someone drops out. Pat hasn't heard from Hilary yet about arrangements for the meal afterwards. About 12x people are due to eat.
Andrew B has done the presentation to 2x schools so far, and David M has done one. There are still several to go.
David M confirmed that we have made the two agreed application for the further round of District grants. These were for the African Oyster Trust and Open Your Hearts to Bhutan.
Social: 12x names are down for bowling. This will fill up the two lanes we have booked. Please let Robert know your meal choices for the meal afterwards at The Royal.
Any Other Business: Nick asked about the Tudor Feast being organised by the Herne Bay rotary. Pat confirmed there was a sheet in the events diary but if you want to go you have to obtain tickets from Chris Jones at Herne Bay.
Pat said she has spoken to Reggie. He has had his angiogram and the results showed that his heart is not as bad as was thought. However, he still has problems with his hip which restricts driving and walking. Pat wondered if we could make arrangements for someone to give him a lift to meetings.
Godfrey said he bumped into Iain Millet. He is OK but clearly affected by memory loss.
David M reminded members that he has tickets for the Quiz night on Saturday 13th April.
Greetings from Other Clubs: Pat has greeting from another club, but couldn't remember precisely where - somewhere 'oop North.'
Raffle: Won by Paul
Master-at-Arms: According to Nick, today is World Thinking Day, and also World Yoga Day. On this day in 1997 scientists announced the successful cloning of Dolly the Sheep.
Final Toast: Given by Godfrey
Date of Next Meeting: 07.30am for 08.00am Thursday 29th February 2024 @ The Plough
