BREAKFAST
Business: It's car parking today, so Pat and Paul will need to rush off promptly to open up. (And it's just started raining).
Fund Raising: Regarding the Fun Day this coming bank holiday Monday (28th), Godfrey confirmed that he has organised our volunteers into two shifts. Shift A should arrive to set up from 10.45am, and shift B from 14.30pm. The forecast so far is for dry weather.
David M said the Golf Day is all in hand, apart from the raffle. Some good prizes are still needed. Sue wondered if we could ask Ales & Antiques for a voucher? Can members let David M know asap if you want to attend the evening meal.
Committees: Pat reminded members that we decided to have no breakfast on a Thursday for 3x times during this year, so that committees can get together for a meeting. There is a 'no breakfast' Thursday coming up shortly on Thursday 7th September. So, chair persons, please gather your committee for a meeting, and be prepared to report back.
Any Other Business:
Pat announced that Kathy and Kevin are getting married. This triggered a discussion about the difficulties of setting up a power of attorney. David M said that this can be done easily through a solicitor at a cost of £100 - but the nominee has to be competent.
Pat will be at Brogdale this week end for the Cider Festival.
Greeting from Other Clubs: Kathy went to a Bat & Trap evening with Whitstable club, followed by a buffet at the Market Inn, Faversham. Kathy said the food was very plentiful for £15 a head, but there didn't seem to be much for people who might be gluten intolerant.
Paul brought greetings from the Seal Club: 'oink, oink'. (This was in fact the seal colony at the mouth of the Stour where he, Dave C, and Ron B had gone for a boys day out).
Andrew M said he met someone from the Paragon Rotary Club in Hull.
Raffle: Won by Dave C
Master-at-Arms: Godfrey was in the chair this week with Bertie Basset. He told a joke about a hospital patient in a pub. Pete was congratulated for his Father Christmas Hawaiian shirt.
Final Toast: Given by Sue.
