BREAKFAST
Business:
Fund Raising: Last week end's car parking was an amazing result, a record-breaking £936 plus £20 on the stall. Kathryn said she had a call from the pub next to the school about someone locked in after 5.00pm. She had to ring Brian about it. Paul talked about car parking this coming week on 24th August (Thursday). He needed volunteers to do the opening shift from 09.00 to 11.00. This was sorted. Hopefully, since it's mid week it may be quieter.
Regarding the Golf Day, David M confirmed that all the sponsorships are filled, and Red Zebra have confirmed they will be in attendance.
Social: Pat said thank you to Dave C and Diane for organising the Tea by the Sea last Friday. There was some unusual excitement caused by a car which had run down the bank near the sailing club and was wedged between the concrete retaining wall and the esplanade. It was gone by the time we finished.
The Ales & Antiques evening yesterday went well - apart from Andrew B turning up on the wrong night. The atmosphere and the ale were both good. Definitely do this again.
Membership: Regarding the Chestfield Fun Day at the cricket club on bank Monday 28th August, Godfrey will prepare a rota for the two teams covering the stall during the day. David M will print off large versions of the posters (he has already done a poster about the Xmas collection).
International: Andrew B has received a request from Ghana. This will be discussed at the next board meeting.
Any Other Business: Margaret said that while she was car parking last Saturday, at least three punters asked her what she got out of doing it? Sue said that it's because we are so efficient they must think we are being paid.
David M asked if person(s) unknown could kindly stop crossing his name out in the events folder?
Almoner: Pippa said that Marian is improving, but slowly. Her leg is still swollen and she can't walk easily. She is having difficulty getting a GP appointment. Pat gave an update about Jean S; She suffered a blockage in her throat while Bob was out shopping, which was scary.
Master-at-Arms: According to Nick, today is Black Cat Appreciation Day. On this day in 1920 the piggy bank was invented; in 1998 on this day the Monica Lewenski scandal reached its climax.
Raffle: Won by Margaret
Final Toast: By Pat.
